Hippotherapy |
Hippotherapy is a physical, occupational or speech therapy treatment strategy that utilizes equine movement. Specially trained therapists evaluate individuals needing this distinctive therapy and lead the treatment with the help of certified therapeutic riding instructors. Most hippotherapy sessions are provided in a one-on-one ratio of therapist to rider. Volunteers help lead the horse and provide support and safety of the rider. The horse’s movement is used to influence the rider. |

Many of the riders don’t realize that they are in therapy as opposed to traditional physical therapy, which can often be a painful and arduous process for clients. Hippotherapy does not replace traditional therapy, but is designed to enhance it. |
